Spotlight on Jackie Fitzgerald

Hi Jackie, could you start by telling us a bit more about yourself and what BWRT is?
Hi, I’m Jackie and I am a BWRT practitioner (Level 1 General Psychopathology) and coach. I love BWRT because it’s fast, safe, natural and effective and lets people just get on with their lives. I’m a city girl but I’ve lived near Newbury for 16 years with my husband Robert and we both love the area.
BWRT is short for Brain Working Recursive Therapy, an immensely powerful style of working that can often dissolve problems almost instantaneously. It offers the ability to work with a client using their natural brain function to quickly and safely overcome many confidence issues, phobias and self-doubt.

What was your first experience of complementary therapy?
My first experience of complementary therapy was when I was 21 and had acupuncture for migraines. They disappeared instantly and only come back every now and again, usually when I’m very tired.
My first personal experience of BWRT was when I was training. We practiced on each other and my lifelong bird phobia just vanished. I now have no problem at all.
What made you decide to become a therapist yourself?
I have been coaching for 8 years and am fascinated by confidence and how it affects us. I referred a client who had a confidence problem to a psychotherapist friend.
My friend used BWRT and helped the client overcome her problem very quickly. She suggested that I add BWRT to my bag of tricks.
I checked it out, trained and now often use BWRT both as a standalone treatment and as part of my coaching programmes.
It’s great for common problems like a fear of public speaking, or dealing with difficult people as well as more complex issues such as anxiety or bingeing.
What are your top 3 tips for wellbeing?
It goes without saying that plenty of sleep, healthy food and exercise are vital, so my top 3 tips would be:
- Practice self-compassion. Be as kind to yourself as you would be to a friend.
- If you have a problem, talk to someone and get it sorted. There’s no need to put up with it.
- Get out into nature as often as you can. Even a quick walk in the park will help.
Who has been the biggest inspiration for you in your wellbeing journey?
Without a doubt it’s Terence Watts, the creator of BWRT as well as other wonderful techniques like Warriors, Settlers and Nomads and SymbioDynamics. He has taught me so many wonderful, creative ways of helping clients, and myself.
What issues have you had most success in helping your clients with?
Becoming confident, without a doubt. It’s a real interest of mine and I love helping people understand their real worth, cope with doubts and become consistently and lastingly confident. I have also had great success working with anxiety and phobias.
Can you share an example of a case study with amazing results?
As a small business owner myself, I do some networking, which involves meeting other business owners and talking about what you do. Many people have real difficulty with this, especially when they’re starting out.
I have helped lots of people overcome their fears of walking into a room full of strangers and having to stand up and talk about themselves and their businesses, often in just one session. It’s lovely to see them go from terrified to comfortable so quickly.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
As well as BWRT I can use other fun and effective techniques to help clients become consistently confident. I have a really practical, down to earth approach that gets results quickly. And we often have a few laughs along the way too.
