Are you suffering from some kind of emotional distress such as OCD, trauma, or addictive behaviours? Would you like to feel that you could cope with life easier? Learn to let go of old behaviours and discover a healthier way forwards?
I feel that when you are able to calm and rest your mind, even if just for a moment, you are able to heal. And in the space that is formed to allow new, more helpful behaviours to take root.
I use a Human Givens approach along with Brief Solution and Hypnotherapy to help alleviate mental distress and work with you to connect back with your innate, natural being.
I am an experienced Human Givens Psychotherapist, Brief Solution Focused Therapist and Hypnotherapist and have worked in private practice in East Sussex and now relocated to Berkshire. Whilst in East Sussex I held “Managing Stress” workshops and published “Understanding Mental Health” articles monthly in Seaford Scene, a local magazine. I continued to work part time in the NHS.
My qualifications are:
- Human Givens Therapeutic Practitioner (HG.Dip.P.)
- Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Solution Focused Psychotherapy (Dip.Hyp.Psych) from Within Sight
- Health Through Occupation (MSc) Brighton University
- I have an enhanced DBS (formally CRB) Certificate.
Lynda is registered with:
- The Human Givens Institute
- Professional Standards Authority accredited
- Member of the Health Professional Council (HPC)
My background is in the NHS where I worked as an Occupational Therapist for 16 years in a variety of mental health settings, predominately working alongside those with severe mental health problems. I started to train in Human Givens Therapy in 2006 and I feel that this training transformed my effectiveness as a Therapist. The highly scientific nature of the training deeply developed my understanding of the brain as well as the mind/body connection and the innate power for change we all have. It also made me realise that the level of severe distress that I have seen people in is absolutely preventable with the right help.
HG therapy incorporates specific techniques that have been proven to work, from a range of different therapies, such as Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy, Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This means we are not restricted to specific ideologies or hemmed in by dogma.
It incorporates all the latest scientifically proven research into how the brain works, as well as drawing on ancient and/or Eastern wisdom, folklore, metaphors and stories. My approach is jargon-free, orientated to your needs, pragmatic, and aims to move you forward swiftly and effectively.
I can help particularly with emotional distress in its various forms including:
- Phobias -all types
- Addiction in its many forms including over eating.
- Self Harm
I have an interest in Zen Buddhist teachings and meditation and the healing powers of nature, and I can often be found swimming in lakes, rivers or the sea regardless of the weather.
