Goodbye The Wellbeing Centre..

.. hello Newbury Wellbeing!

It was with a heavy heart that I closed the doors on The Wellbeing Centre for the last time at the end of 2018. For almost 7 years I’d been focused on creating a hub of wellbeing; a nurturing environment for the local community to access a variety of complementary therapies and a supportive workplace for independent practitioners.

However, the ironic truth was that running The Wellbeing Centre was taking an increasingly heavy toll on my personal wellbeing. Additionally, I was studying with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition towards being a Health Coach and knew that I wanted to have more time to focus on this going forwards.

I made plans for someone else to take over The Wellbeing Centre. With the right person at the helm, I felt the centre could continue to grow as a thriving hub of therapies, support and inspiration for the local community.

Apparently the universe had other ideas! It turned out we were no longer able to continue to use the premises in Pound Street (its on the market) and I eventually decided that I would simply have to close the business. Sometimes we have to make big changes in order to thrive and for me that involved letting go of the centre.

I will always look back on my time at The Wellbeing Centre with pleasure, pride and gratitude. It has meant so much to so many people and has taught me a great many things along the way as well as offering me the opportunity to get to know and love some wonderful people, both therapists and clients.

The Wellbeing Centre may have closed but its spirit lives on. I’m now in the process of transforming our website and social media pages to become the go-to place for all that’s good for you in the local area. Where The Wellbeing Centre has ended, Newbury Wellbeing begins!

The aim is to provide a one-stop for updates on what’s available in the field of complementary therapies and what’s on with a calendar of local wellbeing classes, courses and events such as yoga, mindfulness and much more..

My passion and goal is to increase people’s awareness of the benefit of complementary therapies and to help people access what’s available where in Newbury and the surrounding areas.

I’ll be sending out weekly e-newsletters packed with updates about what’s available in the local area (not just Newbury but spreading out to Thatcham, Hungerford and beyond) plus wellbeing tips for mind, body and soul. Think Goop, but more realistic.. certainly more local and affordable!

Would you like to receive these FREE e-newsletters and find out ways to boost and maintain your wellbeing? Join our mailing list here >>

Or perhaps you’re a therapist, yoga teacher or practitioner and you’d like to be featured in our directory?

You may also like to join us for our monthly Newbury Wellbeing Network meetings. Drop me a message and I’ll be in touch with more details.

If you have fond memories of The Wellbeing Centre, I’d love to hear from you. Why not share your stories in the comments below?

  1. The wellbeing centre will be missed. You did such a great job there creating a supportive environment allowing therapists to grow. I know newbury wellbeing will be equally brilliant. Plus we’ll have the network meetings to replace those lovely impromptu tea break chats in reception

    • Thanks Jo. Ah, those impromptu tea break chats were lovely! I always learnt something new from you everytime – you are such an amazing fount of wellbeing-related knowledge. But I do indeed love the monthly meet-ups 🙂

  2. Thank you for creating a beautiful supportive space for so many of us. I have learnt so much during my years at the centre and I’ll always be grateful for the knowledge, wisdom and support I have received from you. And the gentle or not so gentle push in the right direction. Truly inspirational. Thank you Claire xxx

    • Thank you too Diana both for your kind words & for all the support & love you’ve given me over our years of working together – as a friend, therapist & on reception at the centre. I do miss your amazing hugs & am looking forward to catching up with you soon.

  3. I will always be grateful for The Wellbeing Centre in allowing me to establish myself in Newbury in such a wonderful environment supported by Claire. We were all sorry when the Centre closed but am so happy that Claire is still directing her passion through the networking group and keeping therapists and clients connected. Well done Claire x

    • Thanks Helen. As I said, one of the great things I personally benefited from out of running The Wellbeing Centre was having the opportunity to get to know lovely people such as yourself. Hope to see you at one of our networking meetings soon 🙂 x

  4. I would just like to say how great the Wellbeing Centre was & how welcoming & supportive Claire was (and still is) of my sound work. It was a thriving community hub & I know that Claire would like to keep the essence of that going with the website & with the networking meet-ups. Thank you for what you bring to local therapists.
