Breaking habits with hypnotherapy

The subconscious part of our minds is incredibly powerful and is the largest and most dominant part of our minds. Most of us would like to think that our actions and reactions are as a result of a conscious logical thought process but it is in fact mostly controlled by the desires of the subconscious which determines not only our behaviour and emotions, but also pain and illness. This is why even though we know we should break a habit that has a negative impact on our life, if the subconscious does not want us to change, the problem continues. Curative Hypnotherapy uncovers and corrects the causes stored in the subconscious and once the cause is eliminated then the effect (the habit) cannot continue to exist.  It will therefore continue to disappear until all traces of the symptom are gone.

Over the years I have helped many people overcome a variety of emotional, physical and behavioural problems using Curative Hypnotherapy. Breaking negative habits of one form or another is a common theme. Weight Loss and Stop Smoking sessions are very popular and Curative Hypnotherapy is especially suited to helping people overcome a range of addictions.

One of the most rewarding incidents that I have had recently was when I treated a woman who had an addiction to water (Aquaholic). She had been advised by her Doctor that it can cause problems to her health. She didn’t have any other health problems.

Drinking water is vital for optimising our health and wellbeing.  The Department of Health recommends that we should drink about 1.2 litres of fluid every day and the NHS Choices website and British Dietetic Association suggest that we aim to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water every day. Most of us probably fall short of this quantity. However, for some people the problem they have is the opposite; they drink too much water.

Aquaholics are addicted to drinking water and consume more than the recommended amount of water on a daily basis. One of the most famous aquaholics in recent years has been Nigella Lawson who reportedly used to drink three litres of water before going to sleep at night. You may think that water is the last thing to cause harm and yet drinking excessive amounts can lead to water intoxication or hyponatraemia which is when too much water in the body excessively dilutes sodium levels.

After receiving the warning from her doctor, my client realised that she needed to reduce her water intake but she couldn’t seem to stop. She told me that her mouth felt perpetually dry and she therefore constantly felt a need to drink water.

During a Curative Hypnotherapy treatment I realised that there was a lot of “Fear” within her, interesting because when someone is afraid they normally get a dry mouth. I proceeded to treat all the fear that she had and in the final session I was literally shown an amazing result – whilst under hypnosis this woman started moving her mouth around and I asked her if she now had saliva in her mouth and she indicated that she had.

When I brought her back round she just sat there in amazement relishing the fact that the saliva was there. The visual difference was incredibly gratifying and this is why I love my work.
