Baby Bumpkin looks for a Christmas tree

Baby Bumpkin Christmas Class

Today Baby Bumpkin went looking for a Christmas Tree. He met a tree that didn’t want to be cut. All the animals in the forest helped decorate the tree so that it could stay in the forest. This delightful story enthralled the babies (& mums!) at our special Christmas Fundraising Baby Bumpkin class today that raised £85 for Tommy’s.

Similar events were taking place throughout the country with other Baby Bumpkin and Tatty Bumpkin classes joining in.

Tommy’s funds research into pregnancy problems such as stillbirth, miscarriages and premature births and provides information to parents. They also promote baby-friendly activities in companies and organisations through their Baby-Friendly Awards. Tatty Bumpkin (which includes Baby Bumpkin) is currently being short-listed for a an award for “Best children’s activity provider” which should be announced in March 2013. There will be a public vote in January with Bounty donated £1 to Tommy’s for every vote received so watch this space next year!

As well as donations from the mums attending the classes, we sold some rather delicious home-made cakes (thanks to everyone who brought them in) and held a raffle with some very tempting prizes kindly donated for the event. Raffle prizes included an organic babygrow, T-shirt and toy from Tatty Bumpkin, Vintage Tea Cup Candle from Vintage Camelia, a voucher for Fabric Fantastic from Jenny Kirby, a book & poster from Joanne Carr of Barefoot Books and 2 vouchers for 50% off initial consultations with osteopath Elizabeth Beckett for either mum or baby at The Wellbeing Centre.

Mums taking part said of the class today:

“Lots of fun. Nice and relaxing.”

“I loved the story-telling. I don’t know who was more interested in the story, me or my baby!”

“Thanks for a great class today. We really enjoyed it!”

“Loved the continuity of the story throughout the class – it made it really interesting for both of us!”

I’d just like to add my own special thanks to all the mums and babies who came along today and helped us raise the funds for Tommy’s as well as all the lovely ladies who donated raffle prizes and cakes. Hope you all have a great Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
