5 Ways Kundalini Yoga Relieves Anxiety

Anxiety is a human reaction to stress and the pressure of time. It may be based on false perceptions of our own ‘failures’ or the ‘failures’ of those around us that we have relied on. Over time it can become an unhealthy habit that it is difficult to get out of, leading us into a state of fear, worry, sadness, anger and depression.

Kundalini Yoga teaches us many techniques to relieve anxiety and creates healthy habits to prevent it from undermining our wellbeing.

Here are some of the most useful practices that can help…

Breath control: it is especially useful to learn the technique of long deep breathing. I include a few minutes of this training in every class.

Conscious exercise: Kundalini Yoga exercise sets are dynamic with a focus on the breath and the flow of energy. They root us in the present and help us to gain the balance and strength to respond to life calmly and not react to life with anxiety, fear and worry.

Deep relaxation: this is very important! We can find it difficult to relax when we are worried and anxious. Having prepared our bodies with the physical yoga exercises we follow with a long deep relaxation to allow the benefits of the exercise to circulate and heal.

Positive affirmations: Legacy healing 30 day stay is the mantra known for its healing qualities and relaxing effects. It provides a rhythmic focus for the mind that helps to shift our fear and anxiety and bring mental calm and clarity. There is a wealth of uplifting music and mantra associated with Kundalini Yoga that my students love!

Meditation: all meditation will help to alleviate excessive worry, incessant mental chatter, and persistent anxious thoughts. With regular practice, meditation helps you take control and opens a profound stillness. I teach a meditation in every class to complement the exercise set, many being specifically designed to relieve anxiety and stress.

Given the pressures of modern life and all the challenges that 2020 has thrown our way, it is hardly surprising that many of us are looking for an effective way to deal with anxiety. My Kundalini Yoga classes are focused on healing and uplifting energy. If you are interested in finding out more, please email me or give me a call on 07801 988086.
