Our series of blog features “Spotlight on..” gives you an opportunity to find out more about the therapists working at The Wellbeing Centre. We’ve been asking them questions about themselves, how they got interested in complementary therapy and what inspires them to do what they do. Our favourite section is their top tips for Wellbeing. What’s yours?
1. Tell us a bit about yourself, Lindsay.
I am a qualified energy healer and, despite my weird and wonderful love of energy, I consider myself pretty down-to-earth. I’m a big nature and wildlife fan, but also love a good night out with some live music and a rum and coke. I love learning new things (currently golf, yoga and tai chi).
2. What was your first experience of complementary therapy?
I came across energy healing a few years ago. I had been suffering for many years from M.E/chronic fatigue and had experimented with a number of different therapies to try and heal myself. I was seeing a fantastic hypnotherapist in London (Samantha Redgrave) who suggested I ‘get my chakras unblocked’. Not having the faintest clue what a chakra was I set out to investigate. I found a lady who indeed claimed she could unblock my chakras. After my first session I felt amazing.
3. What made you decide to become a therapist yourself?
My first energy healing session had such an impact on me, I went back for many more sessions. I learnt so much about myself and saw my health gradually improve day by day. It was so hugely beneficial to me I decided I really wanted to learn to perform this magic to help others. So I enrolled on a two-year energy healing course and haven’t looked back since.
4. What are your top 3 tips for wellbeing?
Watch your thoughts – Your physical and emotional health are intrinsically linked so watch your thoughts – they create your reality and consequently your state of wellbeing.
Learn about yourself – Learn as much as you can about yourself – your triggers, emotional patterns, your behaviour – these can massively affect your health. Be brave and venture within!
Do what you love – Take time out to enjoy what you love – whether its walking the dog, going to a yoga class or having a beer with a friend. Happiness helps boost our health!
5. Who is your greatest inspiration in your wellbeing journey?
So many people have inspired me; Samantha Redgrave (the hypnotherapist I saw in London) who recommended my fantastic healer (Marion France), the tutors on my course…. I also love some of the books by Eckhart Tolle, Collette Baron-Reid, Susan Anderson and Wayne Dyer.
6. What issues have you had most success in helping your clients with?
Clients come to see me for a variety of reasons. Recent issues have included; frozen shoulder, migraines, stress, anxiety, a relationship break-up, fear of moving forward, leg pain and back pain.
7. Can you share an example of a case study with amazing results?
Everything that happens in a session is confidential however a recent client has given me permission to share his experience. He was feeling stressed and wanted some relief and relaxation. The sessions revealed some emotional issues and fears relating to a relationship break-up and his inability to vocally express his feelings about it. I worked to bring comfort to his heart chakra to help heal the grief and I also released some blocks from his throat chakra. He had been having singing lessons and had struggled in the last two or three. He contacted me afterwards to say that his singing tutor asked what on earth he had done as his throat had completely opened up and his singing voice was really clear.
8. Is there anything else you would like to share?
If you’re unsure about energy healing, just give it a try. For me it’s not some far-out, airy-fairy practice – it’s based on the basics of science – that everything is made of energy, and that energy needs to flow freely in order to be at optimum health.
9. What’s the best way to contact you for more information and to book a treatment with you?
I am happy to chat with you about any of the treatments I offer at the Centre before booking your appointment.
